The White Trumps Series is my most recent idea. It came to me one day when I was looking at something one of my boys was reading. There is a real shortage of good fiction for children in the eight to twelve age range - partly because stories told at the right level for children that age have to be relatively short, which means the kids tear through them quickly. As a result, I decided to see if I could not come up with a story which would help to fill that need.

The story follows the adventures of a set of triplets who have lost their parents in suspicious circumstances. They must work together to learn the mystery behind the deaths of their parents - and to foil the plans of their stepfather.

The current incarnation of this story is that of a series of short books intended for younger readers - ages six to ten. However, one of my motives for writing the story is to provide writing which will be engaging for older people as well. I believe that a story can be written at a level which is accessible to younger readers without sacrificing depth and meaning - so I am trying to hold myself to that standard.

One of my hopes for this series is that it will find a ready market, since children between the ages of eight and twelve need lots of reading material. If so, I am hoping the project will appeal to a large publisher. Therefore, I do not expect to self-publish this series. But I will share news here, certainly - and, you never know . . .
